Victoria  Amazonica has very large leaves up to 3 m in diameter. Leaves float on the water’s surface on a submerged stalk 7–8 m in length. The species got the name and was once called Victoria Regia after Queen Victoria. Victoria Amazonia is a native to the shallow waters of the Amazon River basin. Its flowers are white at the first night they are open and become pink the second night. Flower of this species pollinated by beetles and are up to 40 cm in diameter.

The largest waterlily in the world can hold up to a 15Kg child on its leaf.
